A SHA-256 hash is a code calculated from a file’s contents. If the contents change, the hash changes too. Test it locally with one of your files.

Example SHA-256 hash095286be5dbf362935678b0c1eb108d33a23b6b17760e14309118a746f3e5b01

The calculation happens in your browser. This test does not upload the file.

Questions

Music registration FAQs

Can the certificate be presented as evidence in court?

The InspireIP certificate brings together digital evidence that the file existed at the date and time shown by the timestamp and makes it possible to check whether its contents have changed. Provisional Measure No. 2,200-2/2001 addresses the validity of electronic documents and allows other means of proving authorship and integrity. The certificate can support the defense of your copyright; its admissibility and evidentiary weight depend on the specific case and judicial assessment.

Does an InspireIP record replace registration with the National Library?

Copyright protection begins when a work is created and does not depend on registration. The National Library offers a formal, optional registration process; InspireIP offers a digital alternative for documenting priority, date, and file integrity through a verifiable certificate. This digital record can serve as evidence of authorship and complement the work’s documentation, while remaining a different service from—and not a formal replacement for—the National Library registration.

Do I need this record to receive public performance royalties through ECAD?

No. These processes serve different purposes: InspireIP documents evidence of authorship, while collective management handles the collection of public performance royalties. To receive these royalties, you need to join a collective management association, such as UBC, Abramus, or Amar, and keep your works registered with it. Recording your song with InspireIP before submitting it to publishers or associations helps document its authorship.

Can I register a song composed with co-authors?

Yes. During submission, you can include all co-authors, and the names provided will appear on the certificate. Carefully review each partner’s information and contribution before completing the process. Because the record is written to the blockchain, certified information cannot be edited after confirmation.

Will my music be visible to the public?

You choose the work’s privacy setting when configuring the record. If you select private, access and viewing are restricted to your account. If you choose public, others can consult the authorship information, which may be useful when presenting evidence of the work. Review this setting before completing your submission.

Can I register the lyrics and audio in a single process?

With a one-off registration, each file is certified individually: registering the lyrics and audio this way means two separate records at R$ 79 each. With the Business plan, you can create a project and include the lyrics, audio, and other complementary files, then certify the complete project using just 1 credit.

How much does it cost to register a song?

One-off registration costs R$ 79 per file, with no monthly fee. Registering the lyrics and demo means 2 files (R$ 158). With the Business plan, each additional credit costs R$ 59.

How long does it take?

Uploading takes a few minutes. Once payment is confirmed, the record is sent to the blockchain and the certificate becomes available in your account.
